Urban Rail Passes 10,000 km, Making Bridge and Tunnel Monitoring Mandatory

According to the Ministry of Transport, by the end of 2024 54 Chinese cities operated urban rail transit — 325 lines totaling 10,945.6 km — with 18 new lines and 748 km added in 2024 alone. China is now the world's largest urban rail market.

With viaducts and tunnels forming a large share of the network, structures serve under complex conditions (train dynamic loads, temperature swings, groundwater) while limited night maintenance windows restrict manual inspection. Online monitoring is therefore standard practice: pier settlement, girder deflection, tunnel deformation and vehicle vibration all require continuous tracking with automatic alarming.

Corecloud's low-power vibration and tilt monitoring solutions are used along rail corridors for structure and equipment monitoring: wireless deployment that does not consume maintenance windows, data automatically to cloud, and instant alerts on anomalies.
