5G and Industrial Internet: A Stronger Connectivity Backbone for Monitoring

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China had 4.395 million 5G base stations by the end of March 2025, with more than 17,000 "5G + industrial internet" projects covering 41 industrial categories and 700 high-level 5G factories built. The "512 Upgrade" plan targets 10,000 5G factories and 20 pilot cities by 2027.

For equipment and structural monitoring, this network enables scale: wiring cost and power access used to make hundred-node deployments uneconomical; combined 4G/5G backhaul, low-power wireless and edge computing now make "every sensor a terminal, data automatically to cloud" routine practice.

Corecloud wireless terminals integrate 4G networking and MQTT out of the box, and our edge DAQ instruments perform feature extraction and alarming locally, cutting backhaul bandwidth by an order of magnitude.
